Is being a foreign English teacher in Korea fun?

  • I've been getting information on people who are English teachers in Korea. To anyone who has been/is an English teacher in Korea-Do you enjoy your job?? Pros vs Cons? Thank you! :)

    I love the **** off it. I've been here almost three months and I've had one of the best times of my life but everyone has different views. From my experience everyone seems to enjoy teaching in elementary schools but people are less enthusiastic about middleschools and highschools. PROS: Being around Korean people all day is more than enough reason to come but otherwise the pay is fantastic, the kids are funny, Korea is phenomenally safe, it's cheap to eat, it snows in winter and it's sunny in summer. CONS: The department stores are fantastic but the style of clothes here doesn't suit me. Big deal.

It all depends on whether youre able to accept and underatand a new culture...some people find every little thing under the sun to b**ch about...others can adapt and immerse. Possibly do a little research before you come and not just googling the hot nightclubs so as to not.be surprised if you see a new dish on your table and freak out like a child. If you are with a stable after school program or public school it will.be mostly what you expect...if you are good with children itll be fine if youre not maybe you can learn. Most teachers startig out generally receive the same amount of pay...around two grand a month no rent. Other than that... Everything is close together theres lots of.things to do and its easy to make.friends
