so currently i am in community college to get my basic class done like english, math, science and history (didnt go to a 4 yr college b/c i didnt know what i wanted to do in life). so i know now that i want to become a cultural anthropologist and study asian culture and languages. i want to head to south korea fisrt to learn the language for a year or 2. so here are my questions. 1. i want to get a BA and maybe later MA in cultural anthropology. should i get it in the US wheret i live or would it be a good idea to get it in another country. i was thinking of getting it in another country like S. Korea b/c the experience and such. 2. if i do want to get my degreee in S. Korea or even to just stay there to learn the language for a year or 2. would i be able to do that? i know some korean college allow visitors who are not coming from a college exchange program to stay there for 1-2 semester and i found 1 that allow me to stay for a yr? 3. if i was able to stay in S. Korea for a few years to study what is the process of doing so. like getting a visa and all. thanks for the help

Answer:
1. 100% get it in the U.S. Think of the reason why a large number of Koreans go, or are being sent overseas by their parents to get a degree/graduate from HS. If you get a degree in Korea, work here for awhile, then go back to the states, no company there will even be familiar with the uni you attended in Korea. Answer to # 2 and 3. Apply to the numerous universities that have international programs. Check out this site: http://www.studyabroaddirectory.com/SouthKorea.cfm You can apply to a 1 year language/culture/history program, or even transfer you credits over here if you want to get your BA here. I would recommend getting your BA, coming to Korea to teach, and at the same time attend the programs. Or get your MA over here. There are alot of teachers over here that do that. Work during the day, and take night classes.
