하다 (Ha-da) - the verb to do (present tense) 했다 (Het-da) - the verb to do (past tense) When this word is placed before other words, new verbs are formed. Eg. 생각하다 (seng-gak-ha-da), which means "thinks". 하다 (Ha-da) can come after some nouns to form different verbs. Eg. 생각 (seng-gak) on its own means thought, but with the ha-da at the end, it becomes 생각하다 (seng-gak-ha-da), the verb to think. Please note that this does not apply to all nouns, but only some. 먹다 (Muk-da) - the verb to eat (present tense) 먹었다 (Mugutda) -the verb to eat (past tense) Endings of phrases can vary; some can end in 습니다 (subnida) or sometimes with no 다 (da) at all, depending on the formality of speech.
