What is this obsession with K-pop?

  • Most quesstion on Y/A--> korea is about k-pop and it made me curious,i know what k-pop means" korean pop,but it's like is the most popular thing people from outside of korea know about korea lol,i love korea,but i'm not really into k-pop cos i like more calm songs,kind of the song they are in korean dramas:P ... :) what is about k-pop is it the beat u like,the lyrics,u find the singers cute so u kept on listening to their music,what is it?? lol and by the way i like kim hyun joong's voice very much when he sing calm music :) ,woud u say his general musical style is k-pop?

    I actually got into k pop because of my dancing. I was just looking at dancing videos on dance, for some inspiration, when I came across a dance. The dance was amazing, I thought the dancer was gorgeous and so talented, and I decided to look at some more of her dancing videos. That's when i figured out that she was a member of a group in Korea, which suddenly opened up a window to k pop for me. And, as I found this dancer, it opened my heart to a group called SNSD/ Girls Generations. and do you know who that dancer was? It was Hyoyeon. She was so funny and down to earth, not to mention beautiful, stunning in my eyes! from then on, their work inspired me, I though they were all so beautiful, and pledged that I would be more like them. K pop was so unique to me, and then soon, I started to get into SNSD's songs, and their dances. Next, their shows and interviews, but my heart always remained on Hyoyeon. Her talent and beauty was breathtaking, even though she is the most underrated member. Thats my story to a world of k pop that took over my life. From then on, I have wanted to be Korean and audition for SM. Though I will never have the chance because I can not speak Korean, let alone be able to move to Korea, and I haven't even told my mum about my obsession! You see, k pop is like a family, it joins people in complimenting the beauty and talent of their favorite members and groups. Its a world in which so many love, and adore. There's nothing better than to read a cement on a video saying "I love...." or "...... Is so beautiful!" because you feel so close to your favorite members. K pop music itself is so fun, and such catchy music, and can vary from any style. I'm sorry for my essay, I could write so much more given the chance. I hope you learnt a little XD

i like kpop cuz it's different a lot of the songs have meaning rather than just be about clubbing like most American mainstream music, i mean i like those songs too but only to an extent yeah kim hyun joong is considered kpop, if it's a slow song in particular it's called a ballad. there are a few groups that sing ballads like 2am or 4men

The thing I like about Kpop is the fact that groups are actually working their hardest for performances and to make things great. That's the difference between Kpop and American music. With American music, the popular artists know that no matter what they do they will sell albums, they'll still earn millions of dollars. Kpop artists don't earn a fourth of that amount, and they try their best because they care about the group, and their music isn't about having sex in clubs.

hey i am like you...i like calm songs so at first i didn't like kpop. but i find that they have great feel to them and the singers are really good!

How i would like kpop is that they are not as showy[females] or has the best swagg & songs!! An example would be 2ne1 or TVXQ!! They have the best swagg and nice songs and nice group members! And i like how i can relate to their songs. (Ugly[2ne1] & Mirotic[TVXQ]) One of the singers in 2ne1 inspired me alot and i wanted to be just as talented as her!!>>CL!! They were my very 1st female group i've ever seen and are a good influence. And tvxq was my first obsession and male kpop group!! And mostly all korean music is pop, even the slow & calm one's. (Also, kim hyun joong's a very great actor too!!!)
