What are the differences between Canadian and American universities?

Are there any 'American' Universities based in Korea?

  • Ok, here's why I am asking. I have been studying at an american public university for 3 years, and i am considering finishing my 4th year to get my bachelor's degree in korea, since i am planning on taking korean language courses there anyway. Anyway, i heard that i could not transfer my college credits to a korean university, since korean universities dont run on the same credit system as american universities do. However, i have heard of "american based" universities all over the world that do. So my question is, are there any of these universities in korea that would solve my dilemma? thanks.

    You'd better ask this question to your univ. If your univ. has any exchange student program with Korean Univ., of course, they will admit your all credit. Otherwise, almost impossible. I hope your univ. has one. Enjoy Korea. added later. You want actually to tranfer to Korean Univ. Of course, you can even if the Korean credit system is different from yours. However, if you want to get the degree of Korean Univ., you have to take at least 70 credit, which will take 2 years, in order to get the degree. That means you have to begin with 3rd year. Also, there will be some nominal exams, I'm not sure. More importantly, in Korea, as far as I know, just some of classes are lectured in english. So, you must have a good ability of Korean language. I don't really know what you mean by 'based' but i think you are putting the cart before the horse. I have had several friends come to Korea and study for a year, but they did so through their school back home. I think you need to be looking for a school in the States that has a partnership with Korean schools or a study abroad program. Both University of Maryland and Central Texas College have branches in Korea, but I am not sure they can provide you with what you are after.

I know that there are 4 different American based colleges on the Yongsan army base, but I don't think you can use them unless you're army affiliated.
