Are Korean variety shows scripted / fake?

  • By variety shows I mean shows like Strong Heart, Idol Army, Star Golden Bell, We Got Married, Star King and etc Obviously the hosts of the show have to read scripted cards to run the show, but how about the stars that guest on the episode ? I remember while watching Star Golden Bell and there was an actor that talked about remembering his lines for the show and etc. & another time when 2PM was on Idol Army and After School was the guests and 2PM acted so surprised and shocked that the After School Girls came on as guests for the show. Later on the episode Junsu of 2PM said that he was preparing very hard two days earlier for a performance for After School. So he basically just stated that he KNEW After School was going to be on the episode. I just recently started watching korean variety shows so I'm just curious.

    They do have scripts, but it's not exactly planned out step-by-step. Not everything that comes out of their mouths were written on a script. I know that they'll have up boards in the back with things to mention or read off at times, but other times it can be random & just whatever comes out of their mouth. on Idol Army, I'm not sure if they know before hand on whether or not who will be the SHE of the day since Jaebeom made his song called "When I Seduce Jessica" so that must mean that he knew SNSD was coming that day, right? I think at times they'll give hints on who is coming. All I know is that there is a script, but it's not like reality shows here in America where everything is fake & they will have to act out stupid scenario's. Usually if something funny happens, it's not because it was scripted but because it was just a random moment of humor. x]

Im not very sure is those are actually scripted scripted but i know they might give out hints and such a few days before, for star golden bell, that actor might have been notified before that he would be on the show and decided to prepare for something to do or say maybe because he/she isnt all that good at variety shows, (sorry i dont know who ur talking about or how he/she said). did Junsu say specifically for after school? ive watched it too but a while ago- maybe he was preparing for the girl group that would come, because although they dont know the actual group they can prepare what they will do, im not saying these shows arent scripted, but you know :P i know on dream team the PD's or whoever- will write stuff down on a board saying like " interview blah blah" or "talk to ? about ?" or " mention blah blah" etc. but they wont tell the host exactly what to do, and as for the guest, no, not for dream team i dont think (but i think its because they move around to much lolz and they wouldnt have enought time to read if they had scripted lines lolz)

well some like star golden bell are scripted they give you scripts but some like we got married or infinity challenge (if you know what it is .... i love that progam !!) is just real
