What are the SM Entertainment auditions like?

What does SM entertainment and or JYP look for in auditions?

• Well, pretty much the question is what i want to know. and a little more... when i ask this im asking like what do they look for in you? Such as.. Do they go for looks only? Talent only? If u audition as a singer do you have to do a dance audition too? etc. What's a good audition song to do for JYP and or SM ent when they come to america?(and i know JYP Is in NY) Pretty much wanna know the most about what they look for in you, and what you need to to when auditioning etc. :)

  Having both looks and talent is your best bet, but it's up to the judges whether or not they feel you have potentential. Personality is also very important. Someone I know was flown to Korea immediately after auditions. He's very very good looking, has a great personality, and has a good (but not amazing) singing voice. A little voice training, and voila! A new star. Another friend of mine auditioned for SM as well. She wanted to me a model, however they also asked her to sing and dance even though she wasn't auditioning as a musical artist. She wasn't prepared and had to make something up on the spot. So my advice is to arrive at auditions prepared! You're competing against a lot of people. A good audition song is something that showcases your voice. If you have a great vibrato, choose a slow classic. If you have a crisp voice, choose a pop or rock piece. I recommend singing in Korean, but if you don't know the language you can of course, sing in English or another language. The more languages you can communicate in, the better your chances. SM requires you to sing three songs without a microphone, and dance to a pop song of their choosing. I'm not familiar with JYP but I'm sure it's similar to SM. For SM you can submit a video/application via their online website, or visit their headquarters (no appointment necessary) in Los Angeles which is what my friends did. You will fill out an application. Be sure to list all your achievements and talents such as awards, instruments you can play, languages you can speak, titles you've won, etc. Inside the auditioning room, you will be interviewed a little bit (good time to showcase your wonderful personality and confidence!). They will videotape yourself giving a self introduction. Tell them about yourself, why you want to be apart of SM, etc., the basics. Keep in mind that they hear the usual stuff all the time so it doesn't hurt to be unique! I recommend giving the self intro in as many languages as you can. Be sure to showcase confidence! After that, you will perform for them. Then, they may take many photographs and videos of you. Wear something simple yet flattering! If you wear high heels, they will take note of that too. They're extremely professional. Remember, if you're near L.A., you can audition in person! They will let you know the time frame in which you will or will not receive a callback. They will only notify those who have been called back due to the mass number of people who audition. If you don't receive a call, no worries, just practice a little more and come back. Good luck!!!!
