What is tokyo (the capital of Japan) like?

What is life like in Tokyo, Japan for an American?

  • I am in the active army and might be stationed about 45 minutes outside of Tokyo. What would life be like in Tokyo for an American Soldier? Thanks.

  • Answer:

. Things may change if you're in or out of uniform. Some Japanese have a problem with American military-men. It's due to them committing crimes & causing problems in bars / clubs. It will be what you make it. If you show respect for the people you come into contact with, you shouldn't have any problems.

Other answers

This question is highly subjective. Life in Japan is whatever how you make it out to be. Some come and live perfectly fine lives others come and hate it. Really it's up to the person. This is not strictly a person in the military, but all types of foreigners in all works of life. Being in the Army you'll probably spend most of your time on one of the bases working and visit outside the base on your free time, your experiences would probably be like any other visitor. But again, the experience itself is whatever you make it to be.
