What are some good coaches gifts ideas?

JAPAN Host family gifts?!! Any ideas?!!! Thxs!!!?

  • I'm going abroad through YFU (Youth for Understanding) this summer of 2008, any ideas for japanese host family gifts? I don't know where exactly I'll be staying at yet, but what does the general/average japanese family would enjoy as gifts that isn't available in Japan? I live in Arcadia, California so I'm not very sure of what gifts I should get because I just move to Arcadia not long ago and I'm not sure what Arcadia is "known for".. in fact I don't really think there is any specific "historical/famous/etc.." place that Arcadia is know for. Perhaps just a book? But what about? As you can see I'm already stressed out enough and since this is my first time with an exchange program, I really don't know what to get a host family. Please help! Thank you! P.S. The only host gifts I know to give is a scrapbook I made myself of my family but there should also be gifts of where I'm from so I can give as souvenirs to my host family, future friends, etc... right? But what?

  • Answer:

what you should give is what you really want to give! Japanese people are so appreciative so I believe what you have in mind is just so perfect a scrapbook is nice it could motivate conversations and maybe something from where you came from maybe some souvenirs ,pictures of nice places and cookies or a beef jerky is good too.just be yourself .

Santa Anita race winning tickets. He He He. I love Arcadia. I used to live in Palo alto dr. Lot of some See's sweet (if yr host family has young) sold at the mall.(Japanese sweets are also very nice though.) Arboretum's small goods. Race truck's small goods. Peacock too! I don't think any book is good enough to be enjoyable.

Its a good idea to bring some gifts to your host family since in Japan, there is a custom to bring some gifts when visit or stay at someones house. (But of course this is withing the Japanese) So if you can bring some gifts to them, they will be so happy. Basically, any gifts would be fine but i guess they wish to know where you come from, how is your hometown look like, and so on.. You can take a lot of pictures of your self, your family and friends, neighborhood or buy a book of Arcadia with lots of pictures!
