What is a good website to find host families in Japan?

Does anyone know how to find people in Japan?

  • I was an exchange student in 1994 and am going to Japan on vacation. I would love to get in touch with my host family but have been unable to reach them because the phone number I have is no longer working. I have tried Google and Hello Tokyo as well as other website but have not been able to find anything. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thank you!

    You can't find a few people in the nation of 127M people. You can just go to the neighborhood they used to live and ask people there. But you need to speak in Japanese. Or hire a private investigator.

Try: 1. Get into contact with the agency/school/program that introduced you to that family. Explain your situation. 2.　Visit them when you arrive. It is very likely that they live in the same place. Japanese people rarely move especially those that own their own home as your host family certainly did. 3. If you don't remember where they live ask friends and relatives to see if they have any old correspondence they might have received from you while you staying there. The envelope will have their address as the return address. A local telephone book would have their telephone number. Be sure to bring their names (kanji) along with a few photographs of you and them together if you are serious about hunting them down when you get here.
