Questions about Japanese language schools in Japan?

Yes, you will not have time to do anything else. You will study half-days Monday-Friday (in class), plus full days once or twice a week, have tons of homework, and a parttime job which will be more work than most American college students do. You will have to prepare to take one or more standardized tests, like the Japanese Language Proficiency test, and your school will have lots of cultural activities planned as well. Meaning you all might take a Saturday trip to Kyoto, or go watch Kabuki or something. You stay plenty busy. I am talking about serious Japanese Language School--the ones where you get a certificate that lets you study in Japanese Universities. You also get high-level language certification. I have worked at "junior college" that had a Japanese program like this. Generally you can choose to do it one year or two. After the second year, you are eligible to go to University in Japan, and can take university entrance exams. There may be easier courses that are more like a holiday, but afterwards, you will have nothing to show for them. It takes intensive study to be able to read and write in Japan at the university level and understand culture well enough to work in a Japanese office/workplace.
