Are Chinese or Japanese people more accepting of foreign people?

Are Chinese or Japanese people more accepting of foreign people? I am a young male, white American. If looks has a lot to do with acceptance in Asia, which I think it might (like the rest of the world), would having brown hair and eyes, being about 5'10'', and having an athletic build be a help? I ask because I hear many people in those countries are not to accepting to outsiders, including Americans. Please tell me what the real story is. Also if I can speak Mandarin or Japanese, which people will be more accepting and impressed by me learning their language? Again, which girls are more open to dating guys in my spot? Thanks

Answer:
Looking like the majority helps in whatever country you are in. Standing out is stand out. I hear China is more racists then Japan, though I have no facts to prove this. In Japan, as an American I am not white American so I don't know I don't get stares or anything because I fit in. My friend is white (he is not American, he's from Europe) but he speaks EXCELLENT Japanese, he gets around fine. The real story is it depends on the individual person. Dating is just like anywhere else it depends on the person. Just like in America, will your white friends date a black person, a asian person, hispanic person? Some might, some might not right? You have to ask yourself that question too. There's no real reason but other then stereotypes and prejudices that we ALL have. It depends on the person, just like in the US or anywhere else in the world. Just depends on the person.

Not only both of those two nationals but also any country's nationals have various individuals. Some of them are very generous to strangers and some not. Some are too xenophobia but some are very sociable. I have no idea why so many American are too nervous to be looked from foreigners. I have never been asked by any native Asian or African how they will be looked like in Japan. It seems American are too paranoia to be looked in the melting pot society. It is too shameful and sad. Be a humanbeing before White or Black. Speaking Mandarin and/or Japanese? It is nothing matter with being accepted or not at all. Actually the useless consideraton of such minor details is one of typical reason why American has always gotten political defeat in the global world. Most of all Asian girls will laugh at you when you asked this kind of question. It is the real story.

You'll always feel a little out of place in Asia. People will be amused by you, your western looks, your clumsy language skills. But they'll never really accept you. There are Asians who've never really been accepted themselves. They sometimes become foreigner groupies, hoping to marry out. In Chinese culture a girl who does this is considered a slut so it takes a pretty bold one to do it. In Japanese culture a girl can get away with this behavior more easily. Japanese are more sexually liberated. It's easier to date Japanese girls, in my opinion.

I think China is probably more accepting of foreigners. And I'm talking in terms of marriage, long term relationships, long term friendships, etc. I'm guessing that it's because they're more laid back about the whole purity of ethnicity thing. Like the person above me said, many Asian countries like to idealize foreigners in media and make them some kind of special person but it's always different in reality when the girl brings the guy home to the parents and vice verse. Yeah, sure, if you put lots of effort into speaking their language, I'm sure that both Japanese and Chinese people would really appreciate it. It's like how we people in America really appreciate the fact that foreign people try their best to speak English instead of expecting us to know THEIR language. If you have a nice, approachable personality and don't make others feel uncomfortable and respect their cultures, I'm sure you'd have a shot with any kind of girl in the world.

I'm Chinese, lived in Taiwan, I can tell you from my own experience, that they definately like white people more, sometimes even more than themselves- Asians. It's the truth, I tried to look for a job in Taiwan before as a English teacher, they told me they prefer white. Pretty racist huh? I think you'll benefit more from learning Chinese, since there are more people in this world that knows the language, and if you learn how to write in Chinese, you pretty much can guess half of Japanese's characters, but the same cannot be reversed. But I can tell you that Chinese are harder to pronounce than Japanese. Finally, the biggest mistake white guys make is settling on average looking asian girls, when they can get so much better, you'll see when you goes to asia, girls will throw themselves on your feet. ( From my point of view, white guys usually goes out with below average and average looking asian girls, perhaps it's because they can't tell the difference of asian facial features, while as asian guys knows what to pick.)

Chinese and Japanese people loke white people! They will just wander up to you and try to practice their english. Both countries would be impressed with you learning their language especially if you sound almost fluent. I think why many countries aren't that accepting to foreigners is because they are really loud and like to complain alot. Sterotypes are universal. It's like Americans saying all Asians are clever.

I think if you can get past yourself as being sooooo differant than any other human being on earth no matter what your race nationality hair color or height, then you'll fit in any where on earth, as well as be able to see people for who they are and not the hypocritic steriotyped opinions that have been inflicted in movies and tv. Also if you can learn one new language why stop there. I think you'ld be surprised at how many people world wide speak english, but may not practice it as there 1st choice. What ever country you decide on should be on what interests you most about that country then get to know the people and or a girl. On a more personal note, I am so grossed out by the last part of your question!! "Which girls are most open to dating a guy in my spot?" WTH ever! Whats your spot? UGHH! I have met 1000's and 1000's of people from all arround the world that have come to america and never have any of them give off an impression that that they had to fit in. I did'nt speak their lang. but there are simple ways to commincate. It sounds like your really just want to date an asian woman. Check out yahoo personals!

Japan is a highly xenophobic country. China is a bit more accepting. If you learn mandarin they will be very surprised because its a challenge to learn. Both countrys hate how the media "glorifys" foreigner media. You don't get any advantages for being a foreign guy. Instead in both country you will be percieved as "stealing women" even by other women.
