I guess the reason is you don't have any IDs for Yahoo Japan. It's very similar but different site. Yahoo Japan requests you a domestic ID.

yahoo japan is actually a "franchise" of yahoo and owned and operated by SOFTBANK. they also purchased VODAPHONE in Japan last year. SO.. you need to create your own profile at www.yahoo.co.jp and do your web cruising there. Think of it this way... a Ford vehicle in Europe and a Ford Vehicle in the US are branded the same but run VERY differently with parts everything etc. good luck!
