For your man he should contact a game designer like Koei ASAP as they advertise postitions vacent and intake nubmers for the coming year on their website usually. Maybe you can do native check on legal documents as a specialist field. Alot of real estates overcharge for rentals when renting them out ot foreigners. Try "gaijinpot" for daily updated jobs in English and you can sign up to get theat by email. Keep an eye one www.japantravelcoupons.com as they list free offers and discount and hopefully will expand their offers. You could also apply to be language teacher through the JET programme.

Your legal secretary skills could definately come in handy here if you learn Japanese as well. However, for getting a work visa, a 4 year degree is a must. Otherwise you will have to come as a student or as a dependent on your spouse (which means, he will need to get a job first). Lots of companies are looking for people who can learn Japanese law and are bi-lingual in english and Japanese so that may be one route you may want to consider. China would be cheaper to live but salary would be pitiful if you are trying to save. Singapore is EXTREMELY expensive and finding work would depend on your field. Japan is definately a happy medium as far as comfort, yet reasonably priced (in comparison to the United States or Eurpose, it is nowhere near as expenisive to live as it was, say 10 years ago) and jobs are available if you look for them or get the right connections. I would say, for guaranteed employment though, either learn Japanese very well or get a 4 year degree.

You need a bachelors degree (4 year university degree) to get a work visa for Japan. Visiting Japan and living in Japan are two different things. If you don't speak, read, and write Japanese fluently then no luck getting a job other then English teaching, which at the moment is very hard because the largest English school in Japan went bankrupt, under restructuring over 600 teachers were not re-hired, so you're up against a lot of people who are already in Japan, who already have experience, filling those job spots. Your finance *might have a chance depending on his qualifications, but then again, he's up against thousands of other Japanese themselves for those job spots in game design, and of course which Japanese companies are more likely to hire.
