How to ship pet from USA...to Okinawa japan?

• we will be leaving on the 19th to okinawa japan....the vet screwed up our paperwork for the dog to travel with us...we are now looking for an alternate way to ship the dog to meet us there...does anyone know how to do this? we have exausted all resources and need help fast....the closest we could get her there was tokyo.........

  The first question is if you are military? That may give you some other options...or at least some help. What you would still have to do is to find someone to keep the dog until it is eligable to be sent, provide them a power of attorney to get them on the plane for you and arrange to meet the dog when it lands to take it through customs and any other process. The reason you can probably only get the dog as far as Tokyo is because, depending on the route, most international flights land in one airport, with flights moving to various locations within Japan originating from another. The owner must be there to take the dog through customs and then to provide the transportation to move the animal to the other airport. No companies are available to do that for you and in fact, you will have a tough time finding a cab or taxi service that will transport the animal, especially if we're talking a large dog and it's kennel. Most of the people i know have had to rent vans to move the animals. You can investigate other flight options into Okinawa, but again the problem will be the flight will most likely land and do customs before landing there, so again the owner would need to be with the dog. In all honesty, if you can, the best thing to do is to arrange for you to reschedule your flight for when the dog is cleared and to accompany it. Most airlines have limited space for moving animals, restrictions tied to weather and season and very few will fly animals without owners any longer. If your dog is an older dog or has health issues, you may want to seriously reconsider bringing him....the flight will be stressful, the dog will be in the cargo hold and there will be no one to check him while the plane is in transit.
