Hi im 14 and i wanne be a exchange student in japan is that available at my age?

how much would that cost

Answer:
Ask your teachers about it. Many such schemes exist but there are age restrictions. Most likely you will have to wait till you reach 16 to make it happen. Cost wise, it should be just the air fare as your parents accepts a Japanese student in exchange for you and supports them, in the same way your Japanese family supports you.

I did an exchange at 15 but it wasn't through a program my Japanese teacher set it up with a family she already knew... If you're learning Japanese you could ask your teacher to try arrange something. I think most of the actual programs only cater to college students.

1) Talk to the school guidance counselor, and find out if your school has a sister school with a Japanese school. There might be a program in place. If not, ask the guidance counselor if one could be set up. Be prepared to work hard to make this happen. 2) See if your town or city has a tourism section, and if your town/city has a sister city relationship with someplace in Japan . . . ask if there's a program in place. 3) Other than that, you might look into programs like AFS (American Field Service) -- you might not be able to do the program as a 14-year-old, but it would be smart to start getting ready for it now if you think it sounds interesting. 4) Also, look into being a host family for Japanese students. Talk to your parents. Local colleges often have "homestay" programs for Japanese exchange students, and there are many other possibilities, especially if your school/town has a sister program in place.
