What makes Japan so good? Why do you like Japan?
-
I am writing about Japan, but i am having trouble thinking of why people should go there. I am writing for class, and i have to try to persuade people to go to Japan through my article. So can people please tell me what they like about Japan, what there is to do in Japan (i.e. sports, entertainment, theatre, film, music, attractions). Why would a tourist want to go to Japan, why would any person want to go to Japan? What is it like to be in Japan, what are the people like, what can you buy??? etc. If anybody can help me explain why Japan is good it would be much appreciated

I visited Japan last year, and I greatly enjoyed my trip, If I had to sum up Japan with one word, I would have to pick "Contrast" You have the ancient world, and the ultra modern world mixed in one place, You can walk past a 7-11, turn a corner and find an ancient looking temple. You can be riding on a train, which has screens telling you exactly where you are, see a young woman sitting demurely in her ancient kimono, wearing wooden shoes, rapidly typing out a message on her cell phone. One thing that really hit me when I was exploring Japan was that you are walking around in a culture that has been around for thousands of years, and has thousands of years of history, unlike the USA who only has a few hundred. The people are really polite, and helpful as well. I had two Japanese women stop and go out of their way to help me find the apartment I rented on my first night there, they stopped their exercise, and helped the big gaijin for over half an hour to find the apartment. There are tiny signs on the trains that say it would be rude to speak on a cell phone, so nobody does it, instead they quietly text message. Things are very convenient, each neighborhood is almost a whole miniature self contained city. At the Convenience stores for example, you can pay all your bills, buy any groceries you need, get hot food, buy almost anything you need for day to day life, and they are open 24 hours, and you are almost never more than a few minutes walk from one. You would be amazed at the quality and amount of public transportation, yes, there are cars and lots of them, but the vast majority of the populace rides bikes or walks to the train/bus station, and then rides the train to where they need to go (it can be an adventure watching people at the big stations during rush hours as well) Its a very interesting place to visit, and I highly reccomend it to anyone

I think no other country has such big contrasts. You can experience the ultra modern with the very old, just side by side, in complete harmony! There are things in Japan you could not even imagine, it is a land full of surprises! Beautiful natural parks, great buildings, ancient temples and amazing cultural events! The food is amazing and the choices endless plus they change with the seasons! There are more flavors than anywhere in the world!

You mean other than strawberry filled M&M's? Well in all actuality there's a lot to see there. The anciet temples in Kyoto, the many countrysides, memorials in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the pod motels that are just awesome! Most popularly would be Tokyo of course, which is worth mentioning has basically no crime rate compared to virtually anywhere else you can travel in the world. Everything is bright and exciting. I mean walking through Tokyo is like being a little kid again and just looking up to a big world. I think a lot of people strive for that sort of childhood thrill, particularly in a monotonous middle class working life.

well, I love Japan for its food. They also have awesome anime like FMA and such. I'll see if I can get my cousin to post, she like know's everything about Japan. As for people, let just say I personally have never met a "mean" Japanese person. Hope this (and whatever my cousin posts) helps!

If theres one reason why I would like to go to Japan and really recommend it to others is their UNIQUE CULTURE. And Im very impressed on how they preserve and cultivate their arts. Once you're there, it seems you are in a different world. Japan sports -- sumo wrestling Entertainment /Theatre - Kabuki Theatre Geisha shows in Gion Attractions - Vending machines( not only drinks but undergarments too) Pachinko Japanese lanterns Torii gates at the entrance of Shrines Penis Shrines True authentic sushi , sashimi, ramen (food is an art) Sanrio characters Nightlights in Ginza (its just awesome) Mount Fuji Temples Castles like Nijo-jo where the floor squeaks like a bird when you step on it but actually its a trap :D Theres a lot more. And you have to go to Japan to experience it.

What I like about Japan: I simply love the Japanese culture, it's so different from american culture that it got me curious Why would someone want to go to Japan: anyone who watches anime or reads manga, plays popular video games, or is into any sort of technology should check out japan. Toyko is one of the most futuristic cities in the world, they are very far ahead of technology in the U.S and I'm sure other countries as well. What it's like: Japan looks different all year round, Cherry Blossoms bloom in the spring time, it Snows in the winter which is a perfect time to visit the hot springs there. Many people know english, and are very polite but you can have interesting conversations with them also. You can buy a ton of stuff! Anime(Japanese Cartoons) Manga(Japanese Comic books) is huge and they have a ton of merchandise based off of it. You can also buy fans, or lucky charms from the shrines.

OMG please write about this. Things in Japan are very organized. I don't care where to live because I'm kinda person who can enjoy mylife in anywhere. I have lived in the US and Canada and some European countries and have traveled all over the world more than 150 times. Things are very organized. For example here in France, I never get Internet connection. They say I'll get in 10 days but they never give me since 3 months ago. 10 more days, sorry 10 more days and... I have changed the provider company but it's all the same. Train never comes on time and very often canceled and it takes an hour to buy the ticket. Long line of people in everywhere such as supermarket, cafe etc. and other things. A french guy visited me in Japan and he didn't have much troubles but he does in his home country in France. Today I was going to Internet cafe where I have to walk 20 min. But the cafe was closed. They just don't want to open today. Then, when I was walking to the cafe, people were waiting bus and when I was going back to my house from the closed Internet cafe, people were still waiting for delayed bus lol
