How much would a trip to Japan cost?

I'd like to visit one day, but I'm not sure how much everything costs. I'd probably stay a month (30 days), fly coach, and the cheapest hotel is fine, or a ryokan. I'd most likely be eating out for most of it, trying the local restaurants as well as the usual fast food. I love Asian culture so I figure on about $100-200 for souvenirs, but what do you think? I'm mostly visiting for the culture so I might have to add some extra money for museums, tours, things like that. Otherwise, that's about all I can think of. So basically, what's a rough estimate of what this would cost?
