How much does it cost to live one year in Barcelona?

How much would it cost to move to Tokyo, Japan from Britain roughly? How much to live there for a year approx?

  • I'm currently a teenager and from the UK, but when I reach my mid-twenties and finish studying Japanese, I want to move to Tokyo for a year or two... Although, I'm not sure how much money I would need to move there. Including getting a place to live, money for food, getting there, etc. Roughly, how much would it cost? I know it's super expensive because Japan right now is one of the most expensive places to live so please no answers like "you'd never have enough money". I just wanna know, that's all, to have an idea. Thanks! x

    Yeah, about 200,000 yen/month at a minimum. If you were going to live in a hostel you wouldn't need any up front money, at least in some places. If you wanted you own apartment, and could find a work-around for someone to guarantee your rental and a place that would rent to you, then you would need another 200,000 yen or so up front.

You just can't move there. But you maybe able to go there on a working holiday visa. And what you're talking about is too far in the future to even think about. But you can start saving your quid now.

Hi a very rough estimate as their could be a few variables would be a minimum of 200,000 yen a month - that's for the basics of life. 300,000 + would be more comfortable

If you are from UK, you can apply for working holiday visa. As initial cost, I think you need 5000-10000 pound.

You'll need a visa. You can apply for a Working Holiday Visa, this means you do not need a job before arriving in Japan and won't be tied to an employer if you hate any job you do get. The biggest problem will be finding somewhere to stay, to rent a flat you'll need a Japanese guaranteur. You could stay at a gaijin house. You really need to think about what kind of work you can do when you get there and focus on that.
