Why do some people attack the Chinese govt for the tainted milk but keep quiet when the us govt did the same?

. When I read from the internet, I found that last year there were big recalls of peanut butter, tomatoes and eggs across the usa and many victims were sent to hospitals. If the anti China gang holds Chinese govt responsible for the tainted milk, they should also hold the us government responsible for all the contaminated food that had caused many people hospitalized. In fact, no govt in the world are able to bring every single piece of food out of million types of products for a lab work, because of the huge costs. Govt starts the investigation only when a particular food is reported to have poisoned consumers and govt is not liable for damages that the poisoned food has caused. Why do the anti-China gang keep attacking the Chnese govt for all the food problem but they are quiet when it comes to the us government. Can anyone answer this question without wandering off the topic ? .

Answer:
Food safety is a global issue with no easy answers. There are periodic outbreaks of food borne contamination and illness in every nation. Every country tries their best to ensure food quality and safety. There is no benefit to anyone if people become sick from contaminated food, so claims that food safety is deliberately ignored make no sense. A company that produces contaminated food would bear all the cost of recalls, lawsuits, government fines, and damage to their reputation. No company wants to have their product recalled, so they are wise to focus on quality assurance. Some people criticize China harshly about food issues for the sake of insulting China. These people don't care whether their criticism is justified or reasonable. They just want to attack China because they have personal fears or prejudices that cloud their minds. China is still a developing country with evolving agricultural and food processing policies. Everyone wants safe food because everyone eats food. There is no majority or minority group here, no special interests either. Everyone consumes food, so 100% of the population supports strong food safety measures.

dear 50-center, the reason is because the US government ADMITTED their mistake. and they didnt arrest the lawyers and they didnt arrest the families for complaining. the communist government arrested the lawyers and families who sought retribution. that is why.
Oh
Because the Chinese government lied about it and suppressed any recall or information about it until the New Zealand prime minster spoke out about it. They did so because the Chinese government was more concern about a scandal free Olympic games. Also their is a big difference from bacterial contamination by natural processes vs adding a toxic chemical to cheat food analysis tests. It also seems that after 3 years that the story has broken that it still pops up in headlines with them finding tainted milk power from 2008 still in the system. "Lim .... the tainted milk incident is being used as a political tool to attack China, thats why it is still up.." That's a load of rubbish, the Chinese government KNEW about it but did not do anything until the New Zealand minster was going to make it internationally public. Therefore the delay by the Chinese government caused make more children ill and therefore they are liable. Did the USA government paid for them. No why should it, it did not cover it up nor was it involved in a cover up delaying treatment. Why did the Chinese government pay them, it seems in Chinese culture that such an action is a sign of their guilt for covering it up. As I said yet again, the Chinese government knew about the problem and delayed making it public. Does the US government know when an individual does a hit n run, no.

@Lover -- Hey doll, are you sure you didn't drink some of that poisoned milk and it affected your mind? :-) U.S. Government didn't have to pay anyone. Unlike in China, the food processors recalled their products as soon as it was known to be a problem, and the food processors themselves paid for medical care in instances where people didn't have medical insurance (Very rare in the U.S., unlike in Chia, most people here do have private medical insurance.) Oh - and you've ignored the fact that in a couple of these cases the food processors discovered the problem and notified the government that they were instituting a recall. The government made nation wide announcements while the producers contacted warehouses and stores to send the stuff back. (The peanut butter manufacturer was one of the very rare cases where the owners and managers of the factory acted like the jerks in China who poisoned the milk. "Who, ME?!?! I did no such thing!") And, Mr. Oh is right - no lawyers, victims or family of victims were arrested - UNLIKE what happened in China. Do you get it YET ??? why people, worldwide, are astounded at the actions of your government because of that? And, low & behold, after the first case of melamine laced milk and baby food, there were two more occurrences. EDIT: Bu... bu... but YOU are trying to make this a political issue re: the U.S. government. "...but they are quiet when it comes to the us government. " "I am talking about the liability of government towards problem food" Again, here's the difference -- if it DID become a political issue in the U.S. no one would be arrested. If MY daughter was poisoned from INTENTIONALLY tainted food and I found out the FDA (Food and Drug Admin) tried to cover it up you can bet I'd be screaming my head off, calling my Congressman and Senator and every newspaper and TV station I could get ahold of. You'd see me on CNN and NBC cursing the responsible government agencies, even naming names of the officials ---- and I WOULD NOT BE ARRESTED by Federal, State or local police, or anyone else. But by Chinese government standards (and apparently yours too) I'd deserve to be arrested. Where the hell iis your head, girl? Oh Yeah -- Mustn't disturb the Harmony. Well, here we DO disturb any damn official who turns out to be a crook or is guilty of malfeasance, and we have the RIGHT and the RESPONSIBILITY to do so. That's Democracy in action.
A Nony Mouse
EDIT: US government regulations about the food supply are among the most stringent in the world. Beyond such regulations the government has very little to do with food safety. Food is produces by private companies who are all liable legally for lapses in food safety. US food concerns have paid hundreds of millions of dollars to victims as a result of legal action. They have also paid large sums in fines for criminal wrongdoing as well. The legal profession, like the media, is strong and active in the USA with vigorous processes against any company whose actions have caused any harm at all to customers. Those lawyers certainly don't care where the company is headquartered at all. They are as aggressive against Chinese companies as they are against US companies. I know that China doesn't yet have developed customer protection laws like the USA or Europe have. The markets in the USA and Europe are more transparent and corruption while still present like it is everywhere, is much less prevalent than in China.
