I am planning independent travel to Shanghai and need Shanghai maps?

    You can buy maps at the airport or the train station very easily when you arrive. Guide books have maps, especially lonely planet which is worth packing just for the maps. and of course maps.google.com is reasonably good. If you stay at a nice hotel, they are likely to give away maps for free or sell them at a reasonable price. For the subway maps try wikipedia (search for Shanghai subway), wikitravel.org or images.google.com
