US Citizen visiting Hong Kong needing India Visa. Can I get it through a Travel Agent?

I am in Hong Kong wanting a visa to go to India. I went to the embassy and they were disrespectful and rude. I went in to get a Tourist Visa and I attached a letter from the surgeon in India who I was going to use to do some plastic surgery. They informed me because of that letter, I should not be applying for a tourist visa, but a Medical Visa. They stated that the only way I can get that was if it was a life or death surgery that I could not receive in HK. I informed them that all I wanted was a Tourist Visa. They stated that I no longer can get one since I was going for that reason and wouldn't take my application. they interrogated me, asked me all sorts of questions about my health and said I should get it done in my own country, not theirs. It was very embrassing for me and i am not sure what I can do to get the visa. I thought I might try to go through a Travel agent that can take care of it for me. Any suggestions?

You can head to any reputable travel agency to seek help, but since if the embassy is reluctant to help, they can't really help much. The better way is to seek a lawyer advice for it, as its regards to International law. But the best way is to contact the Indian Embassy in the US Washington, D.C. for assistance since you are a US citizen.
