Package stuck in Chinese customs?

Your package has been detained by Chinese Customs for a violation of Chinese law. Chinese authorities want someone to appear in person, so they can question them and resolve the issue. The problem might be minor, like needing to pay an import duty. On the other hand, if you are smuggling illegal goods, then the penalties are quite severe. Your package will remain in the custody of Chinese authorities until the issue is resolved to their complete satisfaction. No one is mailing the package back to you. If the issue is minor (duty payable), but unresolved after 90 days, then the goods will be forfeited to the Customs Office. If the issue is major (illegal drugs, counterfeit goods), then Chinese authorities will contact law enforcement in your country for appropriate follow-up. If you are a legitimate merchant (Ebay or whatever), then it is your responsibility to deliver goods purchased to the buyer as agreed in your sales contract. It is not their problem if you improperly shipped the goods to China and the item is now seized by Customs. The buyer either wants their goods delivered or their money back. Look at it from the buyer's perspective, why should they pay for something that was never delivered? Welcome to the real world of business.
