So what do you guys think of the earthquake?

  • Answer:

What can one think about a natural disaster? It would have been better if there were none, but we can't stop it. So better be prepared for such eventuality. That's all I can say. Your family was lucky, but many had run out of luck.

Wow...I hope your family is ok. Not only is is sad that so many people are affected (homeless, dead, injured...ect ect) but now it is raining so hard that the rescue efforts are being hampered and the survivors are having to build shelters. What a tragedy especially while the whole world has its eyes on the Olympic games and all of the protests.

There is nothing to be thought of the earthquake. It's a terrible catastrophe, and we can only hope the human toll count stops. There will be opportunities to donate money if you are still willing to contribute in this form in a few days/weeks. It's just too early now. International organisations will soon be on the sites working with the PLA and the government. Then calls for help will come. I think you'll be able to find proper channels to direct your contributions at this time. Best.

I felt so scared and sad when i found out about the earthquake. My grandparents are retired (obviously) and they live in Chengdu which is near where the earthquake started. But luckily have been in Beijing taking care of my aunt's family. So thank GOD!! I can't believe how many people died. After seeing all those pictures of the bodies and all the crying and mourning your heart just goes out to all of those people. And the situation in Myanmar is devastating too. It seems as though 2008 has been a bad year for China with all the flack about the olympics and protesting and the earthquake.

Then American government should offer medical assistance and equipments that can be used in earthquake rescue. I guess a small team of medical doctors, surgeons will help them a lot, because America still has the best medical schools in the world. Some Americans said that Chinese can take care of themselves, and even argued Chinese never help Americans before. Chinese govt. did offer donations and medical assistance to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. However, the US news media did not say or publish the fact. http://english.peopledaily.com.cn/200509/04/eng20050904_206391.html
