Is it possible to hike up the Himalayas?

Is the Himalayas too dangerous to climb/hike up?

  • I really want to climb the Himalayas, but i hear so many stories about people dying up there or people falling through crevices in the snow. What should i do? I really wanna do it, but it sounds very risky. Can you enjoy the fall beauty & scale of it, without climbing up there?

  • Answer:

Actually no. You can go to the best and highest part of it: Mt. Everest. The optimum weather to visit Mt. Everest is from April to June, a golden period for mountaineers. Each year, a great number of brave robust mountaineers come from all over the world to visit and climb Mt. Everest, hope to fulfill a life-long wish by climbing onto and looking over from the world's highest peak. You can be safe once you escape to go there in winter or July and August. Weather and road conditon are bad at that time. Regard you nice trip!

First of all, you need to remember that 'mountain climbing' is a skill that has to be learned in the proper school because there are no second chances for mistakes while on the cliff faces...! I googled 'learn mountain climbing' and downloaded a small para' for you... Mountain Climbing (or Rock Climbing as it is also called) is composed of two main styles, indoor gym climbing which has grown in popularity thanks to ease and safety, and outdoor mountain climbing which is self descriptive and simply amazing. Both are highly recommended and a challenging and fulfilling experience. I recommend you first try going to one of the many great indoor climbing gyms across the UK and world to see if you like the sport. They are very safe and easy to start in. Afterwards if you enjoy it and would like to try outdoor climbing there are many great guided tours available. Go to google and check out the websites and get yourself on to a beginners course. You might want to remember that the Himalayas include Mount Everest and K.1., two of the highest mountains in the world..! Not for absolute beginners... good luck with it all though, it should be quite exciting.

Of course it is dangerous. You need to be fully prepared, and part of a team. You should start with basic rock climbing, to see if you are up to it. http://www.rockclimbing.org.uk/

You cannot just simply train on rock climbing, because most parts of the Himalayas are easily over 10,000 ft or 3,000 meters above sea level, the highest peak Mt. Everest is over 29,000 ft or 8,840 meters. The first thing you need to adapt to is high altitude, many people become sick simply by reaching too far up above sea level.

Yes ,it is dangerous . If you don't get enough preparation of climbing the mountain , i suggest you should not do it . Yes ,the scenery on the top of the Himalayas is unique , you can see through the TV without climbing up there.

There is more than one mountain in the Himalayas, It is a mountain range, so some mountains will be dangerous to climb, and some easy.

You don't need to climb the mountain to enjoy the environment, you would see it by getting there

There are many tours that take you safely up to first base camp. Anything else will require training and preperation.
