How to find a job in China in Web/e - Commerce?

  • I really need to find a job in China for the beginning of 2011. I work as a Website Content Coordinator and feel i have exhausted my options with online Chinese HR websites. They seem to only have teaching ESL jobs. Location wise i would prefer Tianjin, Beijing, Shanghai and Shandong. P.S i know very basic Mandarin. Thanks in advance

    Only knowing "basic Mandarin" isn't going to cut it in China. You need to be fluent in Mandarin to work anywhere in China as a professional. All of your co-workers will be speaking Mandarin, all written communication and software will be in Mandarin, and (in the case of website development), your website will be in Mandarin. Your inadequate Mandarin language skills mean that you are not a viable candidate for employment in China. You need to acknowledge that reality and plan accordingly. If you wish to work in Asia and only speak English fluently, then you need to target English speaking job markets like Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand. Good luck and be realistic.
