You can't find legitimate cheap shoes, because of the luxury import tax. Basically, brands such as Adidas or others are sometimes up to twice as expensive in China then in the States. The only place in China that actually has legitimate cheap shoes is Hong Kong.... That's unless you want some "fake" converses, you can find those for $5-10 anywhere except downtown, but expect some haggling. And Pearl Market is basically a huge bunch of stalls selling cheap, fake, or unwarrantied items.

Go to the Pearl Market. You will find 100% "original" everything there!!! Other option is the Silk Road market. Same thing, slightly more expensive, Bargaining is legal in this country. Start by offering 1/3 of the asking price and never, never pay more than 1/2. And, enjoy Beijing. It is a great city
