When is chinese new year?

When will the big firework display occur in Hong Kong to celebrate Chinese New Year in 2010?

  • I know that Chinese New Year is on the 14th Feb 2010 but when will the firework display celebrations be? Thanks

  • Answer:

It's usually the second day of the New Year. This past year the fireworks display was on January 27. It should be on February 15, 2010. However, the official tourism website of Hong Kong doesn't have it listed yet. You can always watch for it to show up on the schedule here: http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/events/event-calendar.html I've been in Hong Kong for the past four lunar new years and it's always been on the second day. Good chance it will be again.

It's usually the 2nd of Chinese New Year ie the 15th Feb. One of the best views is from the Restaurant located on the top floor of the Peninsula Hotel. Enjoy!
