What job could a paramedic in America get out in china?
-
I'm an American, and a paramedic. I was just thinking on seeing what type of job I could obtain if any with the credentials I have here from becoming a medic. Also if anyone knows the steps I would need to take, etc. To obtain a job and move out to china. Would be greatly appreciated. Best answer 10 points. I'm learning mandarin off Rosetta stone. So I know how to speak the language. So I guess that's a plus, lol. Thanks,

Hi Benjamin, I know a lot of people go out there to teach English - I guess that's a pretty easy job, but I don't know if you could be a medic in China...

I've been there done that with the Rosetta Stone. It's great for vocab and very basic grammar, but trust me - if you want to learn REAL Chinese before you go to China, you've got to get a teacher. A real teacher. They're the ones who'll teach you how people really talk in China. Trust me, I polished off levels 1 and 2 of Chinese before I got to China, but once I was there, I had to basically start from the ground up again. Outside of its preconceived scenarios, Rosetta Stone's not much help aside from vocab. Sorry to be a downer. However, as far as getting a job as a paramedic - it will be pretty tough. It's not that they don't want you over there, it's just that there's a lot of red tape in dealing with that kind of thing. Paramedics are important people and they have to REALLY know that you are qualified. There are so many different medical situations that can arise, and in a foreign country with a completely different linguistic system, you'd have to be basically fluent in their medical vocabulary before you'd even start, not to mentioning talking to the people on the scene and at the hospital. Like the other guy said, teaching English is the number one job for people in China and a lot of people can do that with little-to-no Chinese skills at all. If you started applying for jobs as an English teacher today, you could easily get a job within a month as long as you were outside of the major English zones (Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, etc.). Jobs aren't really needed in those places, you'd have to go to the developing cities.
