Where is the best shopping at Taiwan?

Of these 3, Hong Kong-Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, which place is the best for fun and shopping?

  • I'm looking for: Entertainment Good money's worth Shopping Technology-wise Sight seeing Unique cultural food..if applicable Events..if any Similarity to Japan (I loved Tokyo!) Thanks!

    Taiwan probably has best quality of life and cheapest expenses out of the 3 possible areas. It has free speech, so things that are wrong get fixed quickly once they are pointed out, unlike in the other 2 areas where if you point out something that is attributable directly to a person with influence, it will never be fixed. Entertainment: all 3 cities are about equal. everyone has movie theaters and bars and dance clubs, and/or operas, stadiums, or performance venues. possibly HK has better live performances and more street performers- but that might be illegal now, I havnt been there for a while, what with the commies taking over it might have stomped out any free expression at all. Taipei doesn't really have much of that but a few run down buskers in the MRT station here and there, there are some really good street dancers near lit up public areas in the early-mid evenings sometimes, and it probably is illegal in Singapore for any live performances or gum. Money's worth: food is cheapest in Taiwan, bigger portions, better quality. electronics- about the same in all 3. shopping- as a tourist Taipei has the MRT system which makes it easy and cheap to get from your hotel to the shopping places and fast, and easy to figure it out, just like Tokyo's underground rail system. Sight Seeing-Taipei has many historical sights, (Danish forts/National Palace museum/East Asia's highest skyscraper.) Unique cultural food- all 3 cities have specialty foods the locals favor. events- currently Taipei hosts the international flower expo for the next few months. -Japanese similarity- historically it once was part of japan and lots of cultural and architectural similarities still exist.

For me, Entertainment - Singapore (night life is so alive) Good money's worth - HK, Taiwan Shopping - HK-Macau (sale) Technology-wise - HK (very updated), Singapore (big I.T. fair and sale each year) Sight seeing - Taiwan (scenic spots) , HK-Macau (Tourist spots) Unique cultural food - definitely uniquely Singapore (multi-cultural cuisines) Events - Taiwan, Singapore Similarity to Japan - Taiwan (they have many products from Japan) Overall, I'd say Hong Kong offers the better place for shopping, but if you are feeling a bit more adventurous, I recommend Singapore.

Taiwan and Hong Kong can't beat Singapore. During Christmas, the streets in Singapore are lighted up and beautifully decorated that holds on to the festive spirit of Christmas in Singapore. New Years is even better. We have parks, resorts, and amazing shopping centres. If you go clubbing, you cannot go wrong here either. Many go "pubbing" here. Scenery is beautiful. We are very technology-savvy too! Singapore is the plethora of globalism - it has everything you can imagine! The people are diverse and really friendly. You will feel like you are at home here.

Taipei, Taiwan is great for all of those, and the prices are very, very low :) Hong Kong is great for shopping as well, but the Taiwanese night market cuisine is definitely worth trying out.

Hong Kong no comparison. Well Taiwan does have good shopping places as well as entertainment. But ultimatly Hong Kong is the best place for shopping entertainment and food as well as sight-seeing.Hong Kong has everything you can find. From electronic goods to great Canto food. Also the people there arent too bad, they understand english so it wont be like in japan where people cant speak english or speak very little of it.

The above Answerer is wrong about freedom in Hong Kong, the City is the MOST free place in Asia, unlike Singapore where freedom of expressions, freedom of speech is prohibited. Journalists always get locked up for reporting negative things about Singapore including the constant flooding and crimes. Foreigners easily get punished by caning, recently a Swiss guy is convicted of a minor crime and is whipped. Also you cant choose gums nor talk loudly on Singapore streets. The weather is horrible too, rain and humid around the clock.

some answers and the yahoo id named "let it be" are singaporeans coming up on here to attack its envy leader.........silly and sickening, they're in fact showing to the whole world that the tiny, resourceless, freedomless, terrorist island of singapore has zero talent, resorting tricks to pull tourists from yahoo's china section..........what ashame!!!!
