No there aren't any sites like that. Why not? The “driving culture” is underdeveloped. You might be able to find some information online in Chinese if you are lucky, but not in English. China doesn’t have “interstate” highways. Most highways run from city to city (in fact, most highways are named after the two cities they connect). Which means that to get to any place, you have to go through several other cities that are out of the way. Chinese drivers licenses only permit the driver to drive in one geographical area (Foreigners can’t get one unless you are a resident of China… No tourist visas. No international drivers licenses). Toll-gates are expensive. Car rentals are expensive. People don’t get into their cars (even the ones that have them) and drive to another city. Yes, I have a car. Yes, I have a drivers license. Yes, I drive in China. No, I don’t drive between cities. Here’s why: Beijing (national capital) to Taiyuan (capital city of Shanxi Province) (Less than 600 km) Gas cost: 400rmb Road Tolls: 700 rmb Time: 7+ hours Bus ticket: 150-200rmb Time: 7+ hours If you just need to get the distances between cities you can use the train maps. Quite often the train schedules will tell you the distances between cities too. PS) Half of the expressways I’ve driven on aren’t even on the maps, and some of the ones on the maps aren’t even there… and those are Chinese maps published in the last year.
