Help!!! Working with tourist Visa in Egypt lead to trouble in future?

Truth about working in China on a tourist visa-teaching?

  • please no hear say, just true experience and facts. Though i know China has a large gray area. My question is. How often do people get caught working on a tourist visa and get in trouble? .Shanghai specifically, THis question is simply hypethetical. I know its illegal to work on a tourist visa and I know many people still do. I just want to hear from someone who knows how easy this is. I have heard from many people its no problem to work on tourist visa and live without stressing getting caught. I lived in Shanghai on a working visa and not once did the police or anyone check my visa(besides my employer) Im asking this question for a friend who wants to vist for a few months, he has his 1 year multi entry 90 day stay and he wants to use that to work. what are the chances of getting caught and fined and deported???? has working on a toursit visa worked for anyone? Ive personally known people while i was in shanghai doing it with no problem it seems. Others had a work permit that they got from some shady recruiter(with no actual job) and they work odd jobs just like someone on atourist but this seems to be just as illegal as a tourist working. So please only answers about facts noot the rules cuz i know them already, just let me know true stories, RECENT STORIES cuz obv. things in china are changing fast and something that may be true of 2004 isnt true these days. Would love to hear from someone about there experience workin on a tourist visa in a large city in chhina(shanghai if possible) thanks :) Thankss ps disregard misspelling and abbr, i sent this from my phone.

5 of my Teaching Friends are here in Guangzhou, China teaching without a WORKING VISA. Sally has been here for 5 years. I have been here for 4 years. Ron 3.5 and so on.... Like you mentioned... in your time in China with a WORKING VISA you were never bothered. What will change this time? I am assuming you want to stat teaching independently now? Many Schools and Businesses won't hire a teacher without a working Visa. But TRUST me MANY DO. I work for a wonderful school... Private Elementary school. I had a friend that was leaving and asked if I would like the Job. I went for the demo and I was Hired that day. ( for the next semester) So I'm sure you know there is a lot of Private work to be had without needing a WORK VISA. So that has been established. You want to know the risks. Well... very LOW in my opinion. I have NEVER been questioned about "WHY I'M HERE" Or been "RAIDED" while teaching a class in my apartment. Does not happen. LOL. You can teach as a "TUTOR" for classes from your home and at a persons home and that is ok. I have been stopped a few times in Guangzhou and asked for my Visa. This was a random thing. But only to check if I am registered with the Police and in fact that I have a Visa. They have no proof that I am working. If you do not have pay stubs or contracts with anyone there is nothing to say you are teaching. The Elementary school I teach at is well aware that I do not have a working Visa. They never asked but I know they know. On the days when they have "OFFICIALS" at the school to check them they have let me know and I did not come to work that day. This has happened only 2 times in 2 years. I can only Imagine that a problem would arise if you are at a SCHOOL and police show up and start asking for PASSPORTS. I have yet to ever here about that. I have many friends that teach at ENGLISH FIRST, OXFORD ENGLISH and other English Schools. Not 1 of them has ever said that they were "RAIDED" by the police and had to produce their WORKING VISA. So in my Humble opinion I say there is almost no problem with not having a WORKING VISA. Your risk is elevated if you are teaching at a school like I do and or at EF and OXFORD. But I know EF and OXFORD do not usually hire people that do not have a working Visa. If like me you start teaching 100% independently you should not have a problem. I have even taught some of my classes outside. 4 Kids on a field trip. Going to stores, playing basketball or just walking around teaching things. Yes the Chinese are interested. Many watch intently. I have even seen "POLICE" and nobody says BOO! I hope this helps and sets your mind at ease. But like most things... not all is 100%. Can you get caught? Sure you could. Like I said pretty much at a school only. What will happen? Not sure. It has never happened to me or others I know. Deportation seems a bit much. Most likely it will be the school that gets in trouble. It's not like you are dealing drugs. But I'm not a lawyer...
