Chinese new year lion dance question...?

What do the colours of the lions represent in the southern chinese lion dance, I know the white one is supposed to represent the oldest of the lions? What about the rest? Blue, pink, yellow, gold, green etc... Also how do you know which one is the girl or boy lion?

The Chinese Northern Lion (北獅) Dances are usually performed appear in pairs in the north China. Northern lions have shaggy orange and yellow hair with a red bow on its head to indicate a male lion, or a green bow to represent a female.
