How would you rate Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony?

  • I've seen a great many Olympics ceremonies, but the Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony was the most stunning display I've ever witnessed. It cost over $300 million for Opening Ceremony alone - not including any other costs. The ceremony lasted approximately 4 hours, costing $75 million an hour or over $1 million per minute!! The performers numbered in the thousands. The costumes, props, complexity, and money were staggering. Bob Costas, who hosts the Olympics on NBC and seen many opening ceremonies in his time, has said that this was the best opening ceremony he's ever witnessed and the Opening Ceremony trophy should be retired after this display. Similarly, Olympics commentators on USA networks has said that Beijing's opening ceremony has ruined opening ceremonies for everyone, because it will not be topped for a very long time. If you have not see the Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony, I highly recommend that you catch it youtube or rerun. How would you personally rank the Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony? Yes, I found it to be stunning too... I liked it a lot, it was really spectacular. They all did an excellent job! It makes me want to visit China again sometime :) But, for me the opening in the 2004 Athens Olympics was better... and remember, a lot of people were in doubts at first if Athens would be a good host city... but in the end, they did a wonderful job.

9/10. The good things about it is that it entertained me for a while.. It showed China's culture and what China stands for. It was really 'one world one dream' etc. The only negative thing about it was that it lasted over four hours.. It was too long! But i didn't expect this.. It was a great opening ceremony. So cleverly and nicely constructed.. It was so organised.. I do not think anyone can top it to be frank with you.. 2012 is going to be the time for London.. I live in England and i have no idea how we're going to top it in London but i guess we'll see what happens.

9/10 it was a stunning display, absolutely spellbinding. my only greivance is that the length could be shorter. becaue it was so long, i was starting to fall asleep halfway through.

Since it costed about 400 million dollars, I would say it's pretty good. I heard they hired the best planners. designers, or something like that. I saw the opening. It was magnificent!
