What are 10 most important facts in the Japanese culture?

10 facts for Chinese student culture?

  • Answer:

It depends upon what kind of student you are talking about. Elementary school: 1. Get to school on time. 2. Respect the teacher. 3. Sit up straight in class. 4. Don't ask questions. 5. Provide the right answer when the teacher asks you a question. 6. Raise your hand to answer a question. 7. Stand up to give your answer when chosen. 8. Do your homework without fail. 9. If you are going to be absent from class, then your parent/grandparent must send a message/call the teacher to let them know. 10. Take Saturday classes in math, English or music. Not sports. Middle/high school: Very similar to elementary school but with a few changes 1. Wear your uniform each day. Keep it as clean as possible. 2. Arrive on time. 3. Respect the teacher. 4. Do your homework . . . all of it . . . every day! This can amount to up to six hours worth by the time one is in the last two years of school. 5. Do NOT get involved in dating relationships. (High school students do date in China, but it is very, very different from the West.) 6. Go to Saturday school (beginning in sixth/seventh grade) for extended periods of time so that you can learn more and get higher scores on the college entrance exam (gao kao). Most parents feel that if their kid isn't in a good Saturday school by seventh grade, then the chances of getting into a good high school that will get them better gao kao scores will be greatly reduced. 7. Start taking practice gao kao exams as early as possible. 8. Free time is for study, not for fun. 9. Expect your parents to do absolutely everything for you (no chores at home, no responsibilities) because your only job is to make a good score on gao kao. 10. Make a high enough score on gao kao to get into a top college. University life: depends upon your major University life is much easier than high school life. High school is very regimented with the only goal to be pass gao kao. In China, the celebration is getting INTO college . . . not college graduation. Almost everyone is "guaranteed" to graduate from university. Some students adapt better to university life than others. Most, though, will say that they are ill prepared for life away from the family unit. They are so used to being told what to do that they are unable to make their own decisions at university. The Chinese education system is primarily memorization based without teaching critical thinking skills. That being said: 1. Go to class (unless something more "important" comes up). 2. Respect the teacher 3. Do your homework (If you are science major, this is mandatory. Liberal arts majors seem to have more freedom in the homework world.). 4. Enjoy dorm life. One can have as many as seven roommates! 5. Enjoy being able to go to internet bars/cafes! High school students are banned from such. 6. Take your exams at the end of the semester, regardless of whether or not you attended class. The rote memorization of the book is good enough. Be shocked that your oral English teacher won't let you take the exam because you never came to class. 7. Learn that life isn't always "fair." 8. Start developing your "guanxi" (network). University friends are usually friends for life in China. 9. Study in empty classrooms or the library. 10. Respect the motherland and all that entails.

Then, wipe your fingers on a tree to get rid of the snot that did not hit the floor. 5. When eating make as much noise as you can. Just slurp, slop, chop away at your food. 6. When on your Cell Phone talk as loud as humanly possible. 7. Stare at people. Be in awe of Westerners. Look them up and down as thou you have never seen a white or Black person before. 8. If you have a baby it is wise to let him or her defecate on a public street. Pee or Poop. And if you see a tree or bush off to the side do not use that! Make sure you have your child do it's business in full view of others and hope that a person walks through it. For those of you who think I am making this up... you know better. It's all 100% true. I see this every day in China.
