Should Chinese manufacturers worry about the new "Made in America" light bulbs that cost US$50 each?
-
Incandescent light bulbs will become a thing of the past in America on January 1, 2012. Stores will legally be prohibited from selling them, due to their energy inefficiency. Unfortunately, America has not developed a good replacement yet. A new "Made in America" 100 watt LED bulb was recently introduced, but each bulb costs US$50. Incidentally, the same bulb is already for sale in China for 25 yuan (US$4), but that one is "Made in China". http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/environment/2011-05-17-led-lighting_n.htm?csp=obnetwork

Yes, I heard from Oprah, during one of her "shows," that the Chinese always avoid anything (such as a light bulb) that the CCP doesn't embrace and promote as a "brilliant idea"... otherwise they could quickly be jailed. That's why so many of the "prosperous Tibetans" still don't have electricity in their homes after 60 years of commie rule.

Yes, made in China light bulbs expire and explode after 1-2weeks of use so be sure to have fire extinguishers ready. A house costs more than US$4.

Yes, China is worried as these new light bulbs are a technological first in the light bulb industry and shows that China is lagging behind. Until now there has never been a 100 watt LED light bulb and its not surprising, new technology devices always cost an arm and a leg, but in the case of ipad2 a kidney and then they does down in price as time processes, how much is a ipad nowadays? Given time as the article says the cost will be reduce to a standard that reflex the cost of living in the USA. The Chinese light bulbs you mention are a technology less advanced, maybe a 20 watt one, so its no wonder they cost so cheap.

yah I hear in China you can get the next installment of Harry Potter books way before the author writes it. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/01/world/asia/01china.html What's that? iPhone 21 and iPad 13 is already available in China?
