How do I find a job easily in Beijing?

Can a non-Chinese speaker find a good job in China specially cities like Beijing and Shanghai?

  • I have heard that good job opportunity exist in China plus the Chinese people are very nice and the country is very beautiful. I am planning to move there for some time, moreover I also want to learn Chinese language. Although I have heard that foreigners in China who can speak Chinese are able to earn good money but my concern is that while I am process of learning Chinese would I be able to find a decent job so that I am able to meet my living expenses?

  • Answer:

Yes it is possible, it all depends on your skills and how much they are needed to China. Having a degree in a subject and several years work experience in it is useful. But you have not really told us what your strengths are. At least you can do is teach English in China. However you simply cannot just move, you will need the correct visas and paperwork to be able to do so.

a non-chinese speaker will have difficulties in finding jobs there. you will have a hard time communicate with your colleagues and your boss. Of course if you can speak both chinese and english well that will be perfect. but if you are not able to speak chinese in china, it will be hard, especially when if you want to do business there. well, i cant say that you really cannot find a good job there as your skills are one of the priorities. you still can find jobs like a english teacher. you can read some in formation or essays about that on the web.

Yes. In fact, language skill will bring you only very little advantage. Nobody will hire you because of language skill. If Mandarin is important there are millions of very able Chinese to do the job. Language skill become only useful outside work, in your leisure time, travel, shopping etc. Don't get me wrong, it's very good to know Mandarin, but it won't get you a better job.

I completely disagree that it's unhelpful and unnecessary to know Chinese except for use in "leisure" time, but yes, you can find good jobs, especially in teaching English. If you go to some of the more rural areas to teach, the town/village will frequently pay for a lot of your expenses also.

Nothing is impossible, but nothing is absolute. First, you need to know that there are lots of college graduate students still fighting for a cleaning dirty toilet job in the mainland of China. There are lots of jobless people really suffering hunger. Think about why would people still like to spend over US$70,000 to come to the U.S. illegally. Are they crazy? No, I don't think so. If you're experienced or highly-educated, I do believe that there are opportunities existing for foreigners. It really depends on what you can offer & what they require from you. In the city where I was born, Hong Kong, I would say that there are more opportunities for foreigners & money is all over on the ground although living cost like living in NYC. Good luck to you

Whether you can find a decent job depends on your skills and qualifications. Actually if your english is very good and you are good at communication, maybe you can be a teacher in some training institute. And this can also benefit your chinese learning. Your students are chinese, they may help you learn chinese. By the way, you can visit www.echineselearning.com, learn chinese there

it is not easy to find a job in China if you can't speak Chinese, except teach English in China, but there are more native English teacher in China now.or apply job in Subsidiaries of multinational corporations in China.good luck. if you want to work in China, you'd better learn Chinese first.i find a place to learn Chinese,www.learnchinese.sg.and there are much free material for chinese learning. good luck.

I think so, I am an English teacher, and I always hear about offers (great offers) for work in China. If you are willing to make the move, I think you would be financially rewarded, because they always need more English teachers around that way. Heck, in some places you might not even need a degree to become a teacher. Good luck.
