Activities for kids in the summer in Abu Dhabi?
-
We're moving to Abu Dhabi in June with my two boys, ages 4 years and 1 year old. My 4-year old will be joining a preschool in September in AD, but I want him to make some friends and have some fun over the summer as well. I know I can take him to the play areas in the malls every now and then, but that isn't really any type of structured activity, and I want him to be able to play sports, do arts and crafts etc. with other kids... Can you suggest some playgroups, summer camps, activity centres etc., for young kids in AD? I'll be living in Khalifa city so something in that area would be particularly helpful... P.s. My son absolutely loves sports - swimming, football, cricket etc so these types of activities would be particularly well recieved!

Answer:
Remembering your question about Pre schools in Abu Dhabi and that you prefer a british school, I would recommend The Club. They offer the Turbo Turtles Summer Camp from June 8 to September 1. The minimum age should be five, but I would talk to them anyway. Cafe Ceramique does not exist anymore. I do not know your Nationality, but almost all expat ladies have some kind of society. Maybe you should check out possibillities there. Otherwise it's a good advice the answerer above gave you. Get in touch with the school. Take care and have a nice summer.

You can join Al Raha Beach Club & Hotel, it is close to Khalifa City and it has nice facilities. A note of warning the temperature in the U.A.E. in June,July and August is over 45 at peaks hours it would not be suitable for anyone to be outside and unfortunately there aren't any climatize gyms or sports complexes for children. There is a cafe called Cafe Ceramique where you could go and paint ceramics, they have classes for young children and you could have a bite to eat while you are there, there is also a Play center called Diana's in AbuDhabi were you can take you child, it's kinda like a nursery-daycare you have to pay but your child will be entertained and mingle with children his age. You can also look for expats playdates groups on line, I'm sure there are a few.And last ,you didn't mention your child's school, check with them they might have a summer program for a few weeks. Good luck !
