Sponsor help for a local teen business?

A am working in Abu Dhabi and resigned, but in conflict with sponsor?

  • After working for more than a year under limited contract I resigned one and half months ago. During this year-long service I have put my best endeavor to make the company grow. Under my capacity I directly negotiated, done the cost analysis and ensured profitable business. Now my sponsor is not willing to release me. So I filed a case in MOL. My sponsor became very upset and made preparation to file false case against me in Police / CID. To avoid mess-up we discussed, and while I withdrew the case from MOL, I am not sure if he filed the case. Atleast sine then 7 days have past so may be he is also silent. He is constantly asking me to surrender my passport. Now, I have to go back to my country, India, to join new assignment but my sponsor do not want me to leave. He started offering big, but nothing in writing. I can not stick to him because he has not kept promises made earlier and way back in India I have much better options now. I approached Police for advises as a precautionary measure. But could not reach to the right department / officer, also language becomes a great hindrance. The way my sponsor now wants me to hold back is surely against the law in UAE. I want to get out of this without a mess. Do u have any suggestion / right contact details in Abu Dhabi, CID / police help-lines where I can get right help.

  • Answer:

If your contract was for one year only, you are entitled to receive your end of service benefits and you are free to leave. If you don't fulfill your contract, you breach the UAE Labor law and will receive a one year work ban and your employer can file for compensation. In this case your employer can't keep you in the UAE but he also doesn't have to pay your airfare back to India Neither Police nor CID have anything to do with work related conflicts. Key question is if you fulfilled your contract. If yes - turn to MoL for resolving problems. If not - sorry to say, you don't have any rights but to leave. edit: a 3 year contract is not an unlimited one. A contract for a specified time is a limited one. You breached the law by not fulfilling your contract and want to file a case? Come on, please.

Local sponsors often talk buth they dont walk the talk. Go back to MoL, file the case, Go to the Police and book a case of harrassment, breach of trust and everything else. Screw the ba$tard.
