Cost of living in Dubai?

Cost of Living in Dubai?

  • I'm currently considering a job offer in Dubai, working as a consultant for an European company. My expected salary would by around 2800€ with accommodation and travel to and from dubai regularly being paid by the company. So, apart from accommodation, my main expenses would be food (probably staying in a Hotel, so no home meals), transportation, clothing and leisure. Can anyone help me, is this a fitting income for living in Dubai? I hear the cost of living is very high, but I have no clue...

  • Answer:

People working in the UAE only for a certain/short time mostly will be located in Hotel Apartments which incl. also a kitchen. Anyway, even if you stay at a 5 star hotel (where dinner prices are comparable with European prices), it does not mean that you have to dine there. You'll have the opportunity to dine at other restaurants. Restaurants which do not serve alcohol in general are cheaper. Compared to Europe, the cab fares are really cheap. http://dtc.dubai.ae/en.portal?dtctariff,Article_000031,1,&_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=view Buying clothes European style, the prices are also comparable to Europe. The items are tax free, but imported, which makes them "expensive" again. The most expensive part on going out is if you consume alcohol. That (depending where you are from) might be more expensive than in your home country. If you want some to drink, buy some at the duty free. The costs of living in Dubai are "high" depending where you are from, if you have to pay your own rent, what kind of salary to receive and where you buy what. With Euro 2.800 (Dhs 15K) spending money you'll be fine. Especially as a single. Don't worry and just enjoy Dubai (and hopefully other parts of the UAE). edit regarding your additional question: you, as a woman can do everything by yourself. In some restaurants you may be seated in the family section, but that's okay. Going out as a woman to clubs, bars. etc.being uncompanied, might by okay depending on how you feel about going out by yourself and where you go. It's the same than in your home country. A woman going out by herself to a bar may look like she is interested to meet a guy. If you want so - go for it. If not - put the guys in place.

LUCKY YOU! i would take it if you don't want it ! :)) anyways, aside from rent , eveything else in dubai is affordable. You can feed yourself daily for 25 euros clothing depends on where you shop and how often, but it isn't very different from europe, probably even cheaper Leisure also differs on where you go, you can spend 300 euros a night in a hotel party, or you may have fun in wild wadi (attraction place) for like 50 euros, or you can go to parks and beaches , free, or you can go to the mall and drink a coffee with friends at starbucks for like 2 or 3 euros, or you can go clubbing for 15 euros, etc... you see.. it depends.. 2800 euros without accomodation is a great salary. with accomodation, it is outstanding. i believe this is the chance of your life! go for it man ! all the best luck!!!!

expensive!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Cost of living - if you don't have food costs then you should be able to live well on that salary, unless you have very expensive tastes. 2. Women in Dubai are probably safer than in most large western cities. Culturally Dubai is quite tolerant - walk through a shopping mall and women are dressed much the same as anywhere in the west. Yes, you can go alone to cinema, bar, etc quite safely. That's not to say unfortunate incidents don't happen, they do but are relatively rare.
