Please visit the link giving below: http://www.dubaifaqs.com/cost-of-living-in-dubai.php Dhs 12K doesn't sound to bad, also when it's very low for a Professor, even when still Assistand Prof. Anyway, the housing allowance may cover half of your yearly rent and not knowing how old your kids are, please do not under estimate the costs for nursery/school. In other words, it could get tight. Hi, I am a Senior Manager of Recruitment for a large organization here in Dubai and I would say you would struggle on this amount of money. Is Education Allowance provided for your children? If so how much because that will make a difference. Second hand cars are inexpensive but your monthly income to support a family would be very tight unless you wife works as well. Women in Dubai do not have to cover, that is strictly a matter of personal preference. Western women wear pretty much what they would wear at home. It's a matter of common sense and where you are going that determines what one should wear. If I were you I would try to get the breakdown of Basic Salary, Housing, and transport allowance plus Education benefits. If you need any more information do not hesitate to ask. Of course the quality of life one chooses in Dubai also makes a big difference. If you are living and working in Sharjah you could get by. Best of luck! It's a wonderful place to work, live and to raise children.

dont listen to neil as he has obviously never been there. women dont have to wear "headgear" in fact u can see some westerners in the souks in shorts and strappy tops but its not recommended better to dress according to where u are, but basically usual western dress applies and u can wear bikinis on the beach. its a 5* holiday destination dont think u will see mrs beckham or mrs rooney in a hijab do u ???? anyway to answer yr question 12,000 a month wont go terribly far unfortunately and i dont think that 65,000 is much by todays accommodation prices. cant comment fully as its a few yrs since i was there. cars will be cheaper than in the uk as theres no tax , food and shopping thats up to you. local basics are cheap, milk, fruit veg, pasta rice meat etc. however imported goods ie yr coco pops from uk etc will be more expensive than they are here. there are of course the same shops that we have here eg bhs debenhams again they are more expensive . u dont mention if yr school fees are being paid for yr children. if not then i dont think u will be able to manage as they are very expensive if u want uk curriculum. to give u an example when i was living there which was 8 yrs ago, my boss earned about 20k a month, had school fees paid and dh 120,000 pa for accommdodation u dont mention if yr wife is going to work if so then she can add to yr budget depending on her profession. hope this has helped a bit even if my info is a little out of date. if i can be any more help dont hestiate to email. good luck.
