Dubai expenses (Free accommodation + free transportation + free medical + 7500 AED)?
-
Hi, I am an IT engineer based on India. I have totoal 7.5 years of experience. I got an offer from a big Indian IT company for long term in Dubai (2-4 years). The company has client in Dubai. They are offering me: 1. Free Accommodation (Full furnish studio apartment), 2. Transportation (Home - Office - Home), 3. Medical Insurance, 4. AED 7500 as basic salary I am married and have a kid of 1.5 years who will start schooling from next year. The company is providing additional AED 500 for school going kids. We are vegetarian and don't smoke or drink alcohol. We will cook food at home and would eat outside one in a week. I need following suggestions: 1. Would I able to save at least 5000 AED per month considering the above offer? Please note that I have to bear electricity, internet and phone charges by myself. 2. Does studio apartments are good for a family for long duration? 3. Can I change my job after 1 or 2 year and join some company in Dubai only? I heard that there are some restrictions on job change in Dubai. Please suggest. Thanks in advance.

Answer:
You will not be able to save AED 5.000 out of 7.500. Is medical also provided for your wife and child? AED 500 may cover the cheapest school. Is that what you want? Basic internet you can get for AED 249 monthly. Utilities may be around AED 300 - AED 400 monthly. What's about transportation costs of your wife? For groceries you will spend maybe around 2.000. Additional costs will occur for cleaning items, personal hygiene, cosmetics and clothes. Along with your dining out once the week come transportation cost for the same and other cost for leisure. You will make it with a basic salary of AED 7,500 but you won't save more than AED 2.000. Btw: don't you think that a studio app. isn't a bit small for 3 persons? When appying for your wife's and child's residency, you need proof of accommodation big enough for your family. Your labour card + residence visa will be issued for 2 year if working on an unlimited contract. After 2 years you can change jobs without needing a NoC of your employer. In case you sign a limited contract, you have to fulfill the same or will receive a one year ban.
