How to check whether my visa was cancelled or not?

I left the uae with out cancelling my residence visa in 2006 . How to check regards ban and re-entry?

    The ban period starts of the date of the cancellation. You have receive, like Willie said, the six months working ban imposed by the Labor Department or the 1-2 years ban. Only the 6 months ban is imposted by the Ministry of Labor. With a sic months working ban you still can visit the USE and can take employment at any of the FZs.Every other ban is imposed by the Immigration Department and you are not allowed to enter the UAE during the ban period. 6 months ban = work ban any longer ban period = immigration ban Contact DNRD directly and ask: http://www.dnrd.gov.ae/DNRD?lang=en-GB Take care.

This is really puzzling me. People who are ban and prevented from entering the UAE are mostly criminals and other freed prisoners who served their jail terms and are repatriated and blacklisted. Others are those who have been charged, tried and found guilty in absentia. Others are those political persona non grata. Otherwise, everybody can come and travel to the UAE provided they have proper documentations, visas, valid passports and means. Taking a work visa is a different story. A person who got a working ban for 6 months or 2 years (maximum) can travel in and out of the UAE for all the person wants even with the work ban. However, he can't have an employment visa issued within the ban period. Coming back to your question, the person still can travel.
