How was the world islands & the palm islands in dubai made?

there was a show about it on discovery like How its made or huge machines etc.. anyways.. it took a few years and many truck hours to go inland to the rock quarries and haul millions of truckloads of rock (large truck sized boulders) out to a bay, dump into a huge barge the size of an oil tanker with a special drop out bottom, that went by GPS out to the middle of the ocean and dropped the boulders laying the foundation out at sea to eventually build up to a point where they could start pumping out water and building up more sand and rock till they got the land just like the wanted it. they also had to install something that looked like industrial sized plastic liners along the sandy sea wall to prevent erosion also.. It was a massive undertaking.. but interesting..
