What's it like to live in Venice?

Whats it like to live in dubai?

  • i am a male of 19 i live in england and in a year i was thinking of moving to dubai but was wondering what its like to live over there i am an electrician so i was going to do the same thing there and whats the pay like if anyone knows

  • Answer:

As a "normal" british electrician (worker) you won't find a job in the UAE. To get hired as a Westener you would need to be spezialised in some kind of your field (i.e. Aircraft electrician, etc) or be a master electrician with a college degree and 5 years of experiene. As a 20 years old guy you won't get any management position no matter what national you are. Please be aware that in the UAE you will get paid regarding your nationality, degree, experience and the company itself. Most skilled workers are from Indian, Pakistan and the Philippines. Coming from poor countries, these nationals work for much less what a Briton would expect. As a skilled worker having a job in the UK you better keep it. As young british guy wouldn't like a labourer's life in Dubai. Long working hrs, low pay, shared rooms as accommodation, etc. Get specialized in your field, get more experience and then try again. Take care.

Well, if you're British then you may even be able to take a management type job in your field, depending on your experience, and the pay should be quite good (likely more than you'd be making in the UK doing the same thing). Dubai is quite cosmopolitan, and it's fairly liberal for a Middle Eastern country, however you will still need to be respectful to local customs which tend to be more conservative than in the UK. Also, the summers there are extremely hot and Dubai also tends to get rather humid, so the climate may take some getting used to. But, you should be fairly comfortable there. There's great shopping with products from all over the world, there's pubs and international cuisine, and there's lots of diversity in the population living there.
