What is there to do in Dubai?

Should I move to Dubai ? And WHAT about the Financial Crisis?

  • I have friends and part of my family (cousins ) who work and live in Dubai ... We are Egyptians and I recently wanted to move to Dubai so bad! I wanted to find a job there .. I was going to live with my cousin in her apartment as roommates (she is single) and she told me that I can find a good job there and that she also wants me to move with her... But a friend that I know used to live in Dubai but moved to Doha warned me from going there! He told me there is a huge financial crisis over there and the companies are firing their workers as they have no money to pay them their salaries! When he told me this it made my mind flip :( and I'm thinking of not moving to Dubai! My question is .. is what he said true? like I could get a job there with a good salary then they suddenly fire me !? I honestly cannot imagine how come Dubai is undergoing a financial crisis and it has all those Touristic sights like Burj Khalifa .. etc .. So please help me guys .. Should I move to Dubai to live with my cousin or not ?!

the information u have is 100% right . but the crisis is only felt in construction industry and its related fields. if u r into this or related field u can surely think twice before coming here. other fields r stable and if u do get a job it should be good enough . no company will hire now unless they need the person and can afford to pay them. i have a lot of collegues 'egyptians' who have moved out . soem r better off and some r not . it all depends on the break u get after ...

That's correct. Its too uncertain here! Companies are paying too low these days---like 9000dhs with 5 year experience, with no housing/transportation. They collect toll here to move within the city,(in the name of reducing traffic congestion) and rumors are residents would have to pay to throw garbage in dustbins outside the house (in the name of going green).School fee rise is under consideration from next school year. Few days back someone asked here what would be the outcome as he was not getting salary for 6 months and had filed a case against the company! edit@ sas: Its not in construction only.Remember William,a British who came here to work in a departmental store, used credit card a lot and got fired suddenly...was asking here for ways to elope without passport as the banks have filed cases against him??? The best in this recession for everyone is to stay where they are.
