How many people does a big shopping mall have daily?

What do you think of the people who bring their filipina maids to carry their shopping bags while at the mall.?

  • One of my closest friends always brings her filipina maid with us when we go shopping. She brings her to carry the shopping bags and she said ti her that she always has to walk behind us. Do you think she does it to get attention? So people think she's a "rich girl"? Alot of people stare, especially the white expats. She is a really great person, and this is the only thing that I dislike about her.

I wouldn't employ a maid or a driver, if I lived in the UAE. I know its the done thing there, but it just reeks, sorry. Its hard to explain it. Westerners are just used to doing things for themselves. Its a cultural thing. That's why you'll see a lot of (oh I just loved how you phrased it) white people staring. I wouldn't stare personally, because I understand that's how it is. Cultural differences. hmmm.

She sees herself as an old school well to do family. I'd feel fine with it if the friend I was with was ok with it as well. After all, she is doing what she is being paid to do.

The white people you refer to here are probably tourists , and they stare probably because they don't see many locals in the mall so that is why.
