I would like to adopt kids out of South Africa and Egypt? (Preferably White or mixed kids)?
-
My husband and I have a 5 year old daughter, but I got my tubes tied in December, because I didn't want to bear anymore children, but we still want our daughter to have a play mate. We've come together to decide that we would rather adopt children instead of me having to go through another whole 9 months of pregnancy. How difficult would it be to adopt out of South Africa and Egypt? I'd like to adopt at least one (White) South African child, or one (Light skinned) Egyptian child. A neighbor of mine adopted both a child out of Ghana and Nairobi, but those countries are all just Black children, and I prefer not to have a Black child because my family is White, and he or she may not fit in and will stand out. I have lived in South Africa for 2 years helping a friend to get stable, and I have visited Egypt before, so I am familiar with these countries, just so much not their laws. Can anyone give me information about adopting white children from South Africa, or light skinned children from Egypt? Thank you.

Answer:
I cannot believe that skin colour will be the main criteria for adopting a child. You are pathetic. My neighbours (who are white) have adopted two Black children from Johanesburg south Africa. The children are as normal and adjusted as any other child. They are happy and accepted because their parents feel that way. My guess is no matter what colour your child will be , it will still inherit the issues you obviously have. I hope that no Indian, Black, 'mixed' or darker skin child will ever come into your family. If you really wanted a child, ethnicity/colour will never matter. A child will only feel 'out of place' when we make him/her feel so. The child will receive those signals from us. Best thing is for to stop having children altogether. Those kids certainly don't need you.

There are many black children in South Africa who desperately need families into which they can be adopted. If a South African family cannot be found for these children, foreign adopters can be considered. Home studies need to be completed in your country of residence, and South Africa's requirements for your home study will be sent to you on request. Adopters from other countries wishing to adopt from South Africa would need to contact the South African Central Authority on +27 12 312-7593, to find out whether their home country has an adoption contract with South Africa. You will be hard-pressed to find a white child being put up for adoption here - by far the majority of orphaned children are black. I am assuming you're American? The site below should tell you everything you need to know about international adoptions by US citizens.

It would be very difficult to adopt a child from South Africa. and Egypt is even more tricky - see link below --- Adopters from other countries wishing to adopt from South Africa would need to contact the South African Central Authority on +27 12 312-7593, to find out whether their home country has an adoption contract with South Africa. --------------------------------------… Have you considered getting a surrogate mother and using your own egg cells and your husband's sperm cells? ------------------------

As pointed out by Sagitarrius, whilst there are many black babies available for adoption, there are not as many white babies. The waiting list for adopting white or indian babies in South Africa is several years and I know that our social services does prefer for the adoptions to take place locally where it is more easily monitored. Where there are white babies available, it is often because they have some sort of disability or illness such as HIV- I am not sure how open or prepared you are to raise such a child. I know of a lot of white South African families end up adopting children from Eastern European countries. So chances are that you will not succeed in this regard, sorry to say. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on adopting babies from Egypt.

That's a strange question. I have to agree with Dee. Why does skin color matter so much to you, you mention in several times in your question? "want our daughter to have a play mate": Is she a dog or a cat who's left alone a lot during the day? She's a child, there are lots of reasons to have a second child, but not for your daughter to have a "play mate". There are lot of normal only children and they have plenty of friends. They don't need their parents to adopt one for them. If you don't want to have anymore children...Well, don't. That is not to say adopting a child from such a problem region is not an admirable goal. Just make sure you do it for all the right reasons. Because this is one of things that can't be undone and will stay with you and your family forever.

the dark skinned ones are the kids who need help....south africa is still recovering from the apartheid. so if u want to help, i really dont think the child will mind having white parents :)
