If you keep up yo date with current affairs, which South African newspaper do you find most impartial and enjoyable to read? Personally, I'm a fan of The Mercury, and, although I read the Mail and Guardian, I find it somewhat partial in its analysis of current affairs. Which South African newspaper/s do you enjoy reading (even if you do find them partial)? Also, what are people's views on The New Age? Apparently it is owned by the ANC (although this was refuted in The Sunday Times) but I find its coverage quite comprehensive, notwithstanding the occasional leftist inclinations. Personally, I don't think complete objectivity is ever possible when it comes to journalism on current affairs, but it can, at the very least, be attempted. Thanks to all who answer.

Answer:
I actually get most of my news from the News24 website, but if I have to buy a newspaper I prefer the Volksblad, they seem to be partial in all the right ways. As for the New Age, I would rather take a 20km drive to go and throw my money in the nearest river.

Hayibo.com (LOVE this site) Jokes aside, I like the Mail & Guardian. www.mg.co.za I read News24.com every day as well, but their constant spelling mistakes and other factual mistakes in articles are a huge pain. There's now even a site dedicated to their bugger ups! Seriously, I'd only use the New Age to help start a fire if we didn't have Blitz. I don't see that as partial at all. Any 'news source' funded by a political party makes me wonder.... Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

I try to stay up to date with the news via the internet. Therefore, my homepage is BEELD (still like to read things in my home language) and, on some days, I also look at News 24. They seem to be relatively impartial. I never ever buy a newspaper and I also don't watch the news on TV. What I like about Beeld and News 24 is that the readers can comment on most of the articles and I find THAT very interesting. Don't have a clue about The New Age and, frankly, not interested if they are owned by the ANC.
