Where should I do medical volunteering in Africa?

Volunteering work in africa???PLZ HELP?

  • hey. im 17 and am thinking of doing volunteering work in africa. can anyone suggest an organisation that does volunteering work any where in africa and dose not cost so much? thanks

  • Answer:

Hi, I have previously done a total of 7 months volunteering over 3 years in Livingstone, Zambia. The main trouble with some of the mainstream volunteer organisations is that they cost a lot (most are in the region of about £1800-£3000), but they don't include that much- maybe food and drinks- the majority don't include flights. Recently, I have started a volunteer organisation to help the communities in Livingstone, Zambia. With the help of a great friend of mine (he used to work for another mainstream volunteer organisation), we are aiming to improve the lives and education within the communities as they do not have the chance/opportunity to gain access to basic needs. The organisation 'Mapunzilo' (Nyanja meaning 'Education') has already attracted 6 volunteers who are going to Zambia in September. Our projects do include everything (apart from visa, insurance, vaccinations and malaria tablets and spending money), and it costs from approximately £1394 for 3 weeks and £2360 for 3 months, at a quick glance, this may seem to be expensive, but this includes the flights as well, which we do arrange (the price may change due to the flights, but we will always try to get the best price). If you need any more information, visit www.mapunzilo.co.uk or email [email protected] Many thanks, Matt.

Hi. I'm going to volunteer in South Africa soon and i've decided to go with GVI (( Global Vision Internationals )). It seems rather reputable. It's not as expensive as the other company I was going to go with (( Real Gap )) and I also found after researching that Real Gap was not really recommended by others who had used the company. Hope this helps and good luck.
